Seven Cycles
- What I haven't done yet, I can probably figure out.
- To build is to know.
- I can help you meet your design challenges face on.
I started working with the folks at Seven Cycles before Seven even existed - at Merlin Metalworks in Cambridge MA in 1996. By the time I transitioned to full-time in-house graphic designer and sole website manager for Seven, I had nearly a decade of experience with machining, welding, final machining, and finishing, inspecting, and shipping exquisite titanium, Ti/Carbon, and steel custom bicycle frames to foreverhomes throughout the world. My experience in production taught me the importance and gratification of taking great care to make sure every detail is attended to.
As the in-house graphic designer for Seven, I work closely with Seven's founder Rob Vandermark to accomplish many ambitious and varied projects. I also help out in production in any role they need me to take on, whenever I get the chance.
Seven's website
For over twenty years I was 100% responsible for Seven's website design - converting Word documents into graphically nuanced responsive web pages. Recently I have handed over nearly all the static webpage page work to Rob, who is continuously adding content and updating the page design, freeing me up to tackle the complex database and integration to our very complex dynamic custom website.

I have implemented several overhauls of the site, including two complete redesigns and adaption to responsive design for mobile use.

Custom elements are used throughout this huge website - database driven forms, interactive color choosers for painted bicycles, retailer locations, paypal API integration, etc.

The WordPress section with eCommerce plugin seamlessly integrates with the rest of the website through shared headers, footers, and stylesheets.

Seven Cycles: Select Portfolio
Limited-edition beer label

My first project as a full-time designer at Seven was an indication that my job was going to have a lot of variety.
Dynamic Duo poster

Used to promote Seven's pro team, these posters can be found in bike shops all over the world.
Wintertide Ride graphic

I like how the raw the weather looks, and the wind is blowing hard enough for the sleet to act like hazard stripes. As a lifelong New England bike commuter, I can relate to how this rider must feel.

Print ad for Bicycling Magazine

Half-page print advertisement for nationally published magazine. Like many projects, Rob had a clear vision and we worked together to make a compelling ad. We have designed and run dozens of ads over the years.
Race Vehicle Graphic

Here's a design project that makes an attempt to make Seven's team minivan cool. Don't tell anyone, but the genesis seed for the design theme was Scooby-Do's mystery machine van.
I have seen it all.
Drop me a line and let's talk.
